My Idea of a University Arts Festival

There is no doubt that the arts festival enriches our college life anextracurricular activity. However when it comes to what should be included inthe arts festival different people have different views. Some insists onperforming arts such as dances and dramas. Still others argue for the work ofart like paintings and calligraphy. Personally I agree with the latter and Istrongly recommend that photographic works should be counted as an importantaspect of the arts festival.

My suggestion lies in the following two reasons. On the one hand for hestudents who take photos the photographic exhibition can stimulate them todiscover the beauty that permeates our surroundings. As the saying goes beautyis in the eye of the beholder; such an activity will definitely foster sharpeyes of photographers to-be. On the other hand for the students who appreciatethe photos they are given a shortcut to the beauty of the nature and thesociety. Maybe by this way they find the sense of the life and enjoy the lifemore in the future.

In short the photographic exhibition can get the students to discover andappreciate beauty. I believe that it is wise to involve the photographic worksinto the university arts festival.

My Oscar Dream

On the night of March 1, the 76th Annual Academy Awards was shown ontelevision. After watching it, I had a dream, a sudden wish, that some day, Icould receive an Oscar award, or a nomination, for a movie I've made.

While I was schooling in Australia, my friends from school and I received an assignment one day, “To make a ten to twenty minute movie on the topic of yourchoice.” At the time, the trend was based around the popular Matrix movietrilogy, so that became our obvious choice.

Because our schedule was very tight, and it was a first time experience, wefound it all very hard work, but when we released our production at school, itwas worth it. After my friends and I showed the movie, we could not get from oneend of the school to the other without getting congratulated about five or sixtimes. We, especially I, were proud. We made a school-wide sensation.

From then on, I became obsessed with how to make movies and how filming isdone. I just wanted to know about everyone and everything that has something todo with movies.

I would watch a movie four to five times, just to find out how one cameraangle, or special effect was produced. I found everything I watched quiteamazing. I sometimes admired directors and producers of these films because thetechniques they use are so smart. Their cleverness inspired me to make and actin movies.

When I become little bit older, I would like to attend a movie academy inBeijing or Shanghai, then America, or England, after some training andexperience, I would like to make a movie, which will most likely be an actionmovie, which is my favorite kind of movie to watch..

If I am lucky, I hope I would get an Oscar Award for this movie. I thinkthat would be quite a challenge, but it’s not impossible. For now, it’s back towatching movies over and over again for me!

Once I hope I can study in a college in future,however that’s passed, as you know I come here, now I wonder what the futureholds for me.

When I come to this school, I told to myself: this my near future, allstarts here. Following I will learn to become a man, a integrated man, who has afine body, can take on important task, has independent thought, an open mind,intensive thought, has the ability to judge right and wrong, has a perfectjob.

Once my teacher said :” you are not sewing, you are stylist; never

forget which you should lay out to people is your thought, not craft.” Iwill put my personality with my interest and ability into my study, during theseprocess I will combine learning with doing. If I can achieve this “future”, Ithink that I really grow up. And I deeply believe kindred, good-fellowship andlove will perfection and happy in the future.

How to say future? Maybe it’s a nice wish. Lets make up our minds, stick toit and surely well enjoy our life.
