The Nightingale

夜莺 

 

One day, a rich man caught a Nightingale and wanted to put it in a cage.

有一天，一个富人抓了一只夜莺，想把它放进笼子里。

 

But the bird said:

但是这只鸟说：

 

"Please let me go, sir. I'll give you some good advice. Someday it will help you."

“先生，请让我走，我会给你一些好建议。总有一天会对你有所帮助的。”

 

The rich agreed to let it go.

富人同意放手让它走。

 

The Nightingale said, "Sir, my advice to you is not to regret anything that cannot be recovered, nor to believe anything boring."

夜莺说：“先生，我对你的忠告是，不要为任何无法挽回的东西感到遗憾，同样也不要相信任何无聊的话。”

 

The rich man heard the advice and let the Nightingale go.

富人听到了建议，让夜莺走了。

 

The bird flew out and said, "Unfortunately you let me go. There is a huge gold coin under my wing. If you take it away, you will become richer."

那只鸟飞了出来，说：“可惜你让我走了。我的翅膀下有一个巨大的金币。如果你拿走了，你会变得更富有。”

 

When the rich man heard the news, he was very angry. He jumped up and tried to catch the Nightingale again.

当富人听到这个消息时，他非常生气。他跳起来，试图再次抓住夜莺。

 

The bird turned towards him and said:

"Now I know, sir, that you are a greedy and foolish man,

You want to bring back the gold coins you can't get.

And you believed in my idle words!

Look how small I am. How could I be hiding a large golden coin under my wing?"
